Teapot Cake

I made this cute little teapot cake and donated it to Australia's Biggest Morning Tea . I am pleased to say we raised $198 to help with cancer research. Thank you to everyone for supporting such a worthy cause and buying raffle tickets. Congratulations to Louisa who won the cake, I hope you enjoy.
The teapot cake was a  6 " Devils Chocolate with dark choc raspberry ganache. Yum.

Looking at the finished cake I thought what a great cake it would make for a kitchen tea, birthday party High Tea or just for a tea lover. The teapot could be customized to look just like your favourite, oh the possibilities are endless...Enjoy and thanks for stopping by. x

Figurines Now Available

During the week I attended a course in Advanced Figurine Making. The wonderfully talented Handi Mulyana showed us how to design carve and put together these wonderful characters.

Each figurine begins as a styrofoam block which is carved to the desired shape { in this case a lovely couple in formal wear }Once carved the figures are then covered in icng and thats where the decorating begins. Figurines can be made to resemble a happy bridal couple copying the detail of  the wedding dress and the grooms suit. Figures also look fantastic on special birthday or celebration cakes. Best of all long after all the crumbs have been swept away your figurines will last forever and be a happy reminder of the special celebration. This handsome couple stand about 18cm tall and look fantastic on top of a tiered cake. What a brilliant way to personalize your special occasion. Thanks Handi for your brilliant tutoring and thanks to all the lovely ladies I met on the course. x
P.S. I modelled the dress on a Christian Dior design.

Autumnal Wedding Cake

I love Autumn watching the leaves change colour, cooler days and cooking with reckless abandon because you don't have to worry about the oven heating up the house. { A real problem during those hot summer months } So with that in mind I put together this wedding cake to celebrate the autumn hues highlighting the use of berries  and a large statement flower. For us in the southern hemisphere it's not strictly wedding season now but if you love the autumn colour palette as I do how about a cake celebrating Autumn in all it's glory.
