Cake Love

I attended a cake decorating course today and made this Buzzy Bee Chocolate Mud Cake. The course was facilitated by Glenda and Winnie the ladies behind Cake Love couture cakes.I  had a great time met some lovely people and came away with lots of ideas. Glenda and Winnie both left the corporate world to start up their own cake business so they have been a real inspiration for me. They are Planet Cake trained and shared lots of helpful tips with ganaching and covering cakes. The only down side of the day was the weather, it was so hot and humid a cake decorators nightmare but the end results were pretty good, see what you think.

Happy Happy St. Valentines Day

At the risk of sounding a bit bah humbug I traditionally don't celebrate this day of all things love. It has in my opinion become a little bit consumer driven. In saying that I always like to bake something to give to my family because they know it has been baked with love.{ big aghhhh } That and the fact that I live in a totally male dominated household any chance I can to splash a bit of pink around I'll take it.

Some raspberry macarons with a dark chocolate ganache filling. Certainly not Laduree standard

but yummy all the same.
