This cake was ordered by a lovely mum Louisa for her son's 25 th birthday and you guessed he likes his footy, so what sort of cake does he get..a football cake of course with some matching cupcakes. Football cake was lemon and coconut and the cupcakes were vanilla. Hope you enjoyed the cakes and had a fantastic birthday.

Cupcakes for a 50th Wedding Anniversary

My good friend Marguerite asked me to make some cupcakes to celebrate her parents 50 th wedding anniversary. She requested gold number 50's on the cakes and said see what you come up with. I thought hand painted fondant with edible gold paint might look kind of sweet for this occasion so I got to work, lucky I have a steady hand, the painting was a little time consuming but I think the effect looks good. I hope the celebration went well and congratulations on fifty years that is a real achievement, hope you enjoyed the cakes.

Want To Know How To Make Cake Stands

OK so you have baked your lovely, delicious ,luscious sweet baked treats and want to show them off. Make your own cake stands. A quick trip to your local shops for some candle stick holders. I got mine from Ikea, but you could pick them up anywhere. Second hand stores, swap meets, fetes, think vintage, unusual shapes and sizes...
Some glue, strong stuff is required here. You need to adhere the base of your candle holder to a plate. I used a painted cake board but again there is a world of choice out there. The easiest way to stick the base to the plate is to mark the centre of your plate { on the back } place on a flat surface and adhere the candle stick holder into the central area. I did this outside on a fine day and left a heavy brick on top to make sure every thing was glued well into place.
Leave for another 24 hours and then voila you have a brand new cake stand to display your baked goods. Since I used cake boards I have put ribbon around the edges to co ordinate with whatever I am displaying. Use your imagination the possibilities are endless.
You could paint the stand bright lime green, glossy black or fire engine red how cool would that look and cost less than $ 20 per stand. Experiment dare to be bold and let me know how you go..have fun

Making Whoopies

Thought I'd see for myself what all the fuss is about with whoopie pies. I made a few batches of carrot whoopies which were gigantic but very tasty and classic whoopies, choc with vanilla butter cream but made them mini size which is much more manageable for the jaw muscles. Whoopies are typically a cross between a biscuit and a cake and are great to munch on. They would be fantastic for a kids party piled up on a plate.
